I do love this time of year when we transition back into routines, reunite with the neighbourhood kids & parents after everyone is back from summer holidays, sign the kids up for activities such as swimming & soccer and chalk our digital calendars full of practices, events and a host of reminders from daycare & school.
The logistics of all the to’ing and fro’ing can be challenging but for me, it also acts as a reminder about all the time my own parents spent shuttling me from one activity to another. I only wish my mom and dad were around to see their grandkids in action in the pool and on the field building lasting friendships and learning life lessons about practice, teamwork, discipline, commitment and the importance of play.
Kudos to each and every one of you for all that you do as a parent. The thanks and gratitude may be years away but I’m sure I’m not alone in my fond reflections of my own childhood as I fly by the seat of my pants on this wild parenting ride.
