new year new website

It’s been over five years since we launched Raspberry Kids and it is about time we updated our website.

We’re just in the beginning stages of a redesign that promises to inject a dose of fresh, healthy and fun into our home on the world wide web.

If you have any suggestions on what you’d like us to incorporate into our new site, please do not hesitate to email us

To say we are excited about this project would be a huge understatement, we’re over the moon thrilled to finally be getting a digital facelift.  #wahoo

g day
for girls

It gives me great pleasure to help spread the word about this wonderful new event coming to Vancouver on April 28th, G Day for Girls.  The passion and dream of fellow Vancouver business owner, Madeleine Shaw of the Lunapads fame, this day promises to be spectacular for all involved.

The speaker line up is incredible and when my daughter is old enough to attend, I’ll definitely be sending her.  For more information, you can like their Facebook page.

G Day For Girls

need some

It seems like kids channel their inner pink energizer bunny and never lose steam; wouldn’t it be nice to bottle their energy for ourselves?

Since I haven’t figured out how to do that, this is the next best thing.  I came across this no bake energy ball recipe and gave it a try.  I made them for a group of friends and talk about a winner!  The kids loved them AND the adults loved them.

The brilliant thing about this recipe is that it is SUPER easy and the kids love to help, you can easily double the recipe, and lastly, you can take creative liberty and add or delete ingredients as you like.

As one of the main ingredients is peanut butter, please be allergy aware.  Strangely, I do feel like I’ve got more energy after I’ve had one or two :-)

what the ship?

Since Canada Post has been in the news recently, we thought this was a good time to chat about this part of our business.

Shipping continues to be a royal pain in our ecommerce behind.  Believe it or not, despite increased parcel volumes over the years, our rates with Canada Post have skyrocketed including another annual increase this month.  Combined with fuel surcharges and the odd strike thrown in for good measure, we continue to scratch our heads and try to figure out if there is a better way.

Our research shows us that sadly, until our volumes increase A LOT, we are stuck with our current provider.

We’ve more or less kept our shipping rates the same (give or take) for the past five years so this means that we continue to subsidize shipping and this cost of business goes up for us every year.  How do other retailers offer free shipping you ask?  We have no clue.  Even our reps at Canada Post can’t figure it out.  Canada is a big country with a small population and not a lot of competition on this front.  Obviously we are keeping close tabs on Canada Post’s moves and continually looking for alternatives as we would ideally love to provide better shipping rates than what we currently do.

New Born Photo Shoot

Over 9 months ago I went into labour with our third child.  The joke about subsequent children being photographed less than the first child could not be further from the truth in our case.

Our little girl, affectionately nicknamed Muffin was photographed right from birth by the incredibly talented Cherish Bryck

I must say neither my husband or I were game for birth photography when the opportunity first presented itself but wow, are we ever glad we went for it and would highly recommend it.

When you think about it, we photo document other key events in our lives such as weddings, graduations and other milestones so it really does make sense to capture the precious moments of the day(s) your child(ren) arrived.

The photos
 truly speak for themselves.

from sue's desk

It is hard to believe nearly a month has already flown by in 2014.  Before we know it, spring will have sprung and summer will be upon us (or is that just wishful thinking on my part?).

The start of a new year is always a great time to reflect.  I definitely have some fond memories from the year gone by, the most obvious was welcoming our third child into our crazy family.  She has provided us all with so much happiness, peace and perspective.  We’ve delighted in her firsts (she just started walking), making her giggle and of course testing out baby products!

We also want to take this time to thank each and every one of you that supported our small business in 2013.  We’ve received great feedback about the wide variety of our product line up, the unique products we carry, our fast shipping and our personalized customer service.  Thank you for your kind words and thank you in advance for your ongoing orders, business and support.  This is what allows us to keep searching out the coolest finds and freshest gear for kids and families.

Wishing you an extraordinary year ahead!
